Setting: Locker room, end of shift. Greg sits down beside Nick. They are alone.
"Hey, can I ask you a question?"
"What?"
"Do you have fun making me jealous?"
"Jealous about what?"
"You're always talking about your dates and girlfriends...why do you do that?"
"If you need help getting a date, I'm sure I can..."
"No, no, no. I don't think you understand."
"I'm not jealous that you act like a stud. I'm jealous because..."
Pauses.
"What?''
"You know...never mind."
"Look, you can tell me, it's ok. I just don't understand the problem."
"It's just that..."
Sighs deeply.
"It's ok, you can tell me anything."
"I'm not so sure."
"Why not? Is everything ok? You're making me nervous."
"If anyone should be nervous, it's me."
"Why? Just say what's on your mind."
Sighs.
"It makes me jealous when you talk about girls, because I like you."
"Oh...I see."
"Are you mad at me? Because I can't help it, you're just so great and..."
"No way, I'm not mad."
"I can't stop my feelings and I've liked you for a while, but when you constantly talk about girls, I get upset."
"I don't blame you. If I knew, I wouldn't have done it."
Standing up.
"I'd better go."
"What's the hurry? How about we get something to eat?"
"No offense. I can't be around you right now, it feels weird."
"Why, you told me you liked me? Why should you feel weird?"
"I just don't want you to feel uncomfortable around me, you know, now that you know I'm gay and that I like you."
"I don't feel uncomfortable. In fact, it's really no big deal."
"I'm surprised you feel that way. Any other guy would be going nuts."
"I'm not your typical guy. If you're gay, that's cool, and besides, I may not have been honest just now."
"About what?"
Sitting back down.
"About me. I....I like you too."
"How come you didn't say so right when I told you?"
"I don't know. I was nervous and I wasn't sure if you were serious at first. You know what it's like to be gay, to have people judge you instantly. I wanted to be sure you weren't tricking me and now that I know you're not...I'm just happy that you like me, for real."
"I like you a lot. I want to be with you."
"Me too. I just don't know if we can."
"Why not? You just said you liked me. Now you don't want to be with me."
"It's this job. I don't think we can be together. What is everyone going to think?"
"They don't have to know! None of them."
"Won't you feel weird keeping it a secret?"
"As long as I'm with you. It won't matter."
Smiling.
"I guess they don't have to know."
"It can be our little secret."
Both standing up.
"No one has to know."
Inching closer.
"No one. Except you and me."
Kissing.
